When I was a child, probably no more than six years old, my mother taught me a few poems from an old book she had. And to this day, I still remember them.
One is called “Witch, Witch.” It goes like this…
Witch, witch where do you fly?
Under the clouds and over the sky.
Witch, witch, what do you eat?
Little black apples from Hurricane Street.
Witch, witch, what do you drink?
Vinegar, blacking and good red ink
Witch, witch, where do you sleep?
Up in the clouds where the pillows are cheap!
I have to admit, there were a couple of words I couldn’t recall, and there are several versions online. But I found the right one. “Blacking” had me stumped. I’m so glad I found the version I mostly remembered. 🙂
All that said, a wonderful author, Holly Ice, just released a witchy novel called A Throwback Witch. I haven’t read it yet, as it’s only just out, but her novel “The Approach” was brilliant. So, I’ve grabbed my copy.
